بیایید با یک اشتباه در گفتن ساعت شروع کنیم.

اشتباه رایج این است که بگوییم: "Lessons begin at eight and a half."

اما درست آن این است: "Lessons begin at half past eight."

حالا برسیم به یک عبارت پرکاربرد به معنی "مثل همیشه".

نگویید: "As usually, he left his pen at home."

درست آن: "As usual, he left his pen at home."

عبارت درست As usual است، نه As usually.

برسیم به بیان نظر شخصی.

اشتباه رایج: "According to my opinion, she's right."

درست آن: "In my opinion, she's right."

حالا برسیم به تفاوت مهم بین At the end و In the end.

اشتباه نکنید و نگویید: "At the end they reached the city."

درست آن: "In the end they reached the city."

برسیم به آب و هوا!

اشتباه رایج: "They played football under the rain."

درست آن: "They played football in the rain."

حالا برسیم به یک اشتباه منطقی در جملات!

نگویید: "The reason is because I believe it."

درست آن: "The reason is that I believe it."

برسیم به یک تفاوت ظریف در کلمات.

اشتباه رایج: "I spend my holidays in a country."

درست آن: "I spend my holidays in the country."

حالا برسیم به تفاوت If و Whether.

نگویید: "I asked Paul if he was going." (اگرچه این جمله در گفتار رایج است، اما از نظر گرامری دقیق نیست).

درست آن: "I asked Paul whether he was going."

برسیم به انتخاب بین دو چیز.

اشتباه رایج: "Any of these two books is good."

درست آن: "Either of these two books is good."

و آخرین نکته امروز، یک اشتباه بسیار عجیب اما رایج!

نگویید: "The cinema likes me very much."

درست آن: "I like the cinema very much."
